Exploring Information Technology - Mr. Kimbley
Here in Exploring Information Technology, we basically learn to use computers. Not just simply the internet in general, but extremely popular things such as Google and such. We also practice our typing, which is very important. We do various projects, which are all a benefit to our educations in various ways. This class helps everybody learn more than just about computers, but about news and various things that are found on the world wide web.
My Digital Life Everybody was required to do an activity known as, "My Digital Life". What did this teach me? Well it definitely taught me a couple of things.
Well, for one, it taught me some ways to keep my information private to only my friends and I. I could do things such as change my password frequently and allow only my friends access to things such as personal information and pictures. This really doesn't connect to any of my classes. It really just requires you to pay attention and some logical reasoning. Another thing I learned is about choosing a personal electronic device. It teaches you to think about what you are going to use the device for. Things like, "What will I use this device for? Do I really need this for what I am going to use it for? Do I need it to be mobile?" Things like this will definitely be in my mind when I buy my own computer. In conclusion, this project was definitely an assistance to my knowledge because it gives me great information that will come in hand for the future. |

The Black Death PresentationThe Black Death presentation was, as its name says, a presentation that I created to show my knowledge of the Black Death plague.
What I learned from creating this presentation is a little bit more on how to use Google Presentations and more information than I knew before on the Black Death. There were clearly some connections between two different subjects. I used my knowledge of the Black Death that I learned in my CORE class, and applied and displayed it using tools from my Computers class. As I've already stated, the tool I used was Google Presentations to make this slideshow. What I learned from using it is that Google Presentations is definitely a simple yet effective tool to use for displaying information. |

The Black Death Multimedia ProjectThe Black multimedia project is a project that I had to create by using a different tool. In this case, I used Thinglink. The project was created to show a quick presentation containing the important information about the Black Death.
What I learned from creating this project is how to use Thinglink for the first time to give a quick presentation on some of the information for my chosen subject. The connections between two subjects is computers and history. I used the information learned in CORE and developed a small project using a digital project. The tool that I used to create this project is Thinglink. I think that Thinglink is a pretty nice tool to use to display some quick and easy information. |

The Black Death Instant Feedback Quiz The Black Death instant feedback quiz is a form I used to ask questions, testing other students what they learned from my presentation. The only difference between this quiz and the regular one is that this instant feedback quiz gives the correct answer after the question is answered.
By creating this, I was supposed to learn how to use the tool (Google Forms), and how to test people on whether they learned or not from my presentation. The clear connections between two classes is Computers and CORE. I used the information I learned from CORE (showed in the presentation) and used a new tool to test others on it. The tool that I used to create this was Google Forms. I learned that Google Forms is a good tool for asking basic questions and to create digital surveys or quizzes. |

The Black Death Quiz (no feedback)The Black Death quiz is a form, similar to the last one. This quiz tests another person on their knowledge of the subject that I used on my presentation (which in this case is the Black Death). This one is different from the other one because it does not give feedback after the questions are answered.
By creating this, I simply learned to use Google Forms, and formed questions from my presentation to test others, trying to prove how effective my presentations were. The connections between two subjects are History and Computers. I sed Google Forms, a tool on the computer, to form questions based on information presented that I learned in CORE. The tool that I used was Google Forms. I think Google Forms is a good tool to develop forms for basic questions and digital surveys. |
