Spanish I - Senor Aberle
In the class of Spanish I, we learn about the Spanish language. Spanish is one of the most popular languages around the United States, and it definitely will come in hand. Although I know quite a bit of Spanish, it definitely doesn't hurt to learn more than you originally knew! This language is very intriguing to students, because it is definitely the most popular language around Fresno and California, besides English. I'm sure this class is very educational and fun!
Accents In Spanish I, I have learned different things that I didn't know, even being a Spanish speaker myself. But was the main thing I have learned about so far? Well, as well as the most difficult, is accents.
These accents are used to put more emphasis on a letter. For example, a strange little character (~) can be put over an 'n' to give it the sound of "ny(a)" For example, it is not simply said pinata, but with this accent, giving it the long and strange 'n" sound. Another accent is with an 'a'. It doesn't necessarily change the sound, but you say it with more emphasis than the other letters. A tool we have used is Rosetta Stone, but most of the learning has come from board work and such. These tools do help though, that's for sure. |
FlashcardsIn Spanish class, we were required to create flashcards on the words we were learning about in our current unit. The flashcards consisted of the word, a drawing presenting the word, the definition of the word, and the English translation.
Basically, this helped me study a lot better for upcoming tests. I must admit that it was a bit tedious creating them. But once I reflect on my test grades, I must admit that these flashcards really helped me prepare myself for them. Overall, I think the time that I spent creating them was definitely worth an improvement in my grade. |
